New Animated Series "Forces of Destiny"

The new series will be comprised of several 2-D shorts and will focus on the women of Star Wars in an effort to get more young girls interested in the series. The shorts will be released online and will coincide with the launch of a new line of dolls created by Hasbro.

Some of Star Wars' leading ladies are lending their voice talents too: Daisy Ridley is reprising her role as Rey, Felicity Jones as Jyn, and Lupita Nyong'o as Maz Kanata.

"Star Wars Forces of Destiny is for anyone who has been inspired by Leia's heroism, Rey's courage, or Ahsoka's tenacity," says Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm. "We’re thrilled that so many of the original actors are reprising their roles in these shorts which capture the small moments and everyday decisions that shape who these characters are. It is a fun new way for people to experience Star Wars."
